DIGITAL HISTORY

Professor James Loewen,
.
I have just watched your Utube presentation on the “Lies my teacher told me.” You gave an excellent argument that the History, as taught, is broken.
.
I think History is so broken that it cannot be fixed within the paper-based system.
.
As you said, most of the history lies are committed by omission.
.
In the 17th century many of the omissions were made deliberately.
.
Modern historians, who find evidence to expose the lies, are criticized as “rewriting” history.  The publishing professionals, who are selling paper, ignore those controversial historians.  Thus the lies continue to be printed.    Advocates for the real history are forgotten.
.
I suggest we form a group to make an Internet based history.  An Historian, who writes a blog, is immediately published for all to see.  That Historian can revise his text as new evidence appears.  Peers can debate the context of the text via the comments feature of blogs.
.
The key concept should be that the Historian, who discovers new evidence, could immediately revise the official post on the topic.   Then he could get swift validation feedback from other authorities on the topic.
.
The Internet makes possible the equivalent of a group of historians laying their comments on a table.  Then they discuss the evidence to get common understanding.  The resulting common understanding should immediately be posted for all students to read.
.
I suggest a format similar to LENAPE LAND.
.
There are details to be worked out.  The most pressing detail is that history teachers do not seem to be willing to let their students know about links to history information that does not support the paper-based version of history.
.

Please make your comment on the DIGITAL HISTORY post.
.
Have good thoughts

Myron
