MOUNDS at Ft. RANSON, ND
These mounds are similar to burial mounds made by people of the Adena culture about the time of Christ.

...In your e-mail to Karl Hoenke yesterday You mentioned 3 mounds, but there are more than that there, plus a 200 yard long linear mound about half a mile up the hill { 46 31 37 N. Lat. 97 56 52 W. Long. } The Sheyenne River I believe, was named for the tribe that had a trading center and fortified village about 23 miles to the S. E. of Ft Ransom. They where driven west by the Sioux about 1790. Nicolllet and Fremont visited it in 1839 on the way back from Devils Lake. They also where the first to record The Standing Rock of N. D. in a large burial mound about 7 and a half miles north of Ft Ransom. {Another Mystery}
